Toddington Explorers Explorer Scout Unit

Ampthill And Woburn District Scouts, Bedfordshire

June Update

At the end of 2017 we had 10 young adults in our Section around 8 attending each week. This is a decrease of 9 from last year. This was due to the 18 year olds leaving Explorers and not being replaced by 14 year olds from Scouts etc.

This has been a challenging year as most of the Explorers are young and they have not adapted to the concept that Explorers need to assist in the weekly programme and that the Leaders are there to facilitate their evenings, not do all the programming and they just turn up!

We also lost 2 Leaders in Stan and Dave

Activities

Some of the activities they have completed this year include:-

Hikes -- Around local area

Treasure Hunt around Toddington looking at why the Church wall was moved back (to make way for widening the road) Who presented the Water Pump to the town (W D C Cooper) etc.

Raft building at Milton Bryan

Camp stove cooking

Things to cook on an expedition hike – remembering they have to carry everything with them

Gilwell 24. 24 hours of none stop activies. This year we had 10 Explorers attend, the weather was kind to us this year as it stayed dry all weekend.

Future activities

Plans for the future include: - more of the activities we have done in the last 12 months.

Thank You to all the people who have helped over the past year
